Character Analysis:
Significant Characters: Kou, Jace, Miko, Rhiannon, Vihaan, Father Time, The Grim Reaper
Kou: Ankouku/Koukan lives his life making candles with his adoptive father Weylan trying to be normal. He turns out to be anything but. Instinctual, duty-bound, misled, guilt-ridden boy at the verge of adulthood and self discovery. He acts without hesitation to do the right thing. His journey was very gripping throughout the book.
Jace: Jace the Jinrō aka werewolf. He is troubled by his own existence with the changes he is going through. He also has a haunting past which he is forced to confront. He starts out being a playboy and ends up being a loyal friend.
Miko: Kimiko the part elf joins the team briefly. She has her own agenda but she wants to achieve it by being earnest.
Rhiannon: Rhiannon the Vampire angel. She quickly proves herself useful and regardless of her nature proves to be a true empath. She is reluctant to help at first because of her history with Jace but plays a vital role in Kou’s mission.
Vihaan: Vihaan the Dragon Prince. Locked in a cell with his tortured past and the choice to do the right thing staring at his face. He grabs the opportunity and helps save Kou and becomes an integral part of the team.
Father Time: Chronomancer and the father of the twins Ankouku and Hiraku. His reputation to the world is saviour but Kou always knew him as the absent father figure. He plays the part of the rescuer and bringing the band together.
The Grim Reaper: The main Villan of this story known only by reputation and word of mouth for causing so many death. He was presumed trapped but still taunts Kou throughout the book with the help of his dark agents and sets him on the path to being the last chronomancer.
I really enjoyed reading the intricate complexities of each characters and the way the author mixed with the perfect blend of emotional and fantasy cocktail.
Hope you liked my point of view on this book! Until next time!
